Bakelite plastic waste, metal base. 30x 20 x 55 cm
Sculpture and ready made, Waste-Strata is bakelite waste: old plastic no longer being manufactured today. Factory waste, agglomerated plastic residues create this random composition over time. Erected as a sculpture, playing with museographic codes, the gesture highlights the ambiguous materiality of an object somewhere between artifact and mineral, questioning the history of humanity from the industrial era to the present day. Reminiscent of stratigraphy (the study of the earth's strata to define a geological period), Waste-Stata becomes an object of anticipation, questioning a future geological period. Will the history of mankind one day be interpreted in this new, artificial stratum?

Sculpture et ready made, Waste-Strata est un déchet de bakélite : ancien plastique n’étant plus fabriqué aujourd’hui. Détritus d’usine, les résidus de plastique aggloméré créent avec le temps cette composition aléatoire. Érigé en sculpture, jouant avec des codes muséographiques, le geste met en lumière la matérialité ambiguë d’un objet entre artefact et minéral qui interroge l’histoire de l’humanité, de l’ère industrielle à nos jours. Rappelant la stratigraphie ( étude des strates terrestres permettant de définir une période géologique ) Waste-Stata devient un objet d’anticipation, questionnant une période géologique future. L’histoire de l’humanité sera-t’elle un jour interprétée dans cette nouvelle strate artificielle ?
